Updated Information for Pharmacy-Provided COVID-19 Vaccines for Children
A federal provision in the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP) Act that was in place through December 31, 2024, has been extended to December 31, 2029, by the Department of Health and Human Services. This will allow members 18 years of age or younger to continue to receive the COVID-19 vaccine from a pharmacy provider who does not participate in the federal Vaccines for Children Program. ForwardHealth will continue to reimburse for both the vaccine product and the vaccine administration.
ForwardHealth Update 2024-52, “January 2025 Preferred Drug List Changes and Other Pharmacy Policy Changes,” has been revised from its original publication to reflect the extension for pharmacy-provided COVID-19 vaccines for children. Revisions are on pages 46–47.
