In 2025, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services awarded funds to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) for a 10-year project called Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH). This initiative focuses on improving maternal health outcomes in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Medicaid covers four out of every 10 births in the state. By implementing the TMaH model, DHS aims to improve health before, during, and after pregnancy. The TMaH goals include:

  • Improving the care experience for pregnant and postpartum mothers.
  • Avoiding preventable injury or death during or after pregnancy.
  • Increasing access to maternal health providers, such as midwives.

DHS is requesting feedback from maternal health providers, administrators, and quality improvement staff to ensure these critical voices inform project plans and implementation.

Take the Transforming Maternal Health Survey today. Feel free to share the link to the survey with other maternal health providers, administrators, and quality improvement staff, too. Remember to sign up for our mailing list to receive an invitation to our webinar where we will share the survey results and program updates.

We appreciate your time and perspective as we work toward improving maternal health care across Wisconsin Medicaid.

Thank you.
