The National Drug Codes (NDCs) for Pulmicort Flexhaler (budesonide) produced by manufacturers (labeler codes 00186 and 61269) that participate in the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program (MDRP) are being discontinued by the manufacturers. ForwardHealth will continue to cover the NDCs associated with labeler codes 00186 and 61269 that participate in the MDRP until the remaining market supply has been exhausted.
New NDCs available for Pulmicort Flexhaler are associated with manufacturer Rubicon Holdings (labeler code 85612), but Rubicon Holdings does not participate in the MDRP. Therefore, these new NDCs are not available for ForwardHealth coverage.
Pharmacy providers and prescribers should work to transition members to therapeutically appropriate covered alternatives in the glucocorticoids, inhaled drug class. ForwardHealth covers several inhaled corticosteroids that do not require prior authorization.
