  • Change Healthcare (CHC) has begun submitting some batch X12 electronic transactions to ForwardHealth. The volume of backlogged claims held by CHC and the amount of time it will take CHC to send them is unknown. Once claims are acquired from CHC, ForwardHealth will process them in the order received.

Visit the Change Healthcare Service Interruption: Resources page for more information on the security incident and for ForwardHealth resources.

  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now required for the secure ForwardHealth Portal. Providers are encouraged to refer to the ForwardHealth Multi-Factor Authorization Instruction Sheet for help setting up MFA preferences.
Providers may contact their Portal account administrator or call the ForwardHealth Portal Help Desk at 866-908-1363. Note: This is a project-specific announcement and is not related to the Change Healthcare disruption.
ICD-10 Code Set Testing

ICD-10 Code Set Testing

ForwardHealth is using this ICD-10 Code Set Testing Home page to communicate International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) and International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-PCS) testing information. Refer to the ICD-10 Code Set Transition Home page for all other information related to ForwardHealth's transition to ICD-10. Interested parties are encouraged to check the ICD-10 ForwardHealth Portal pages regularly for new information. Testing with ForwardHealth for all stakeholders will be optional, but strongly encouraged, as it will allow stakeholders to verify their readiness to submit electronic transactions to ForwardHealth using the ICD-10 code set and will assist ForwardHealth with system validation in preparation for ICD-10 compliance beginning October 1, 2015. Stakeholders who do not submit transactions directly to ForwardHealth are encouraged to send the link for accessing this Portal page to the appropriate technical or Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) contact person or department within their organization, to their billing service or clearinghouse, or to their software vendor.

Supporting External Testing Environment (SETE)

To support the ICD-10 Code Set Transition Project, a new testing environment, Supporting External Testing Environment (SETE), has been created to allow for full-scale production testing activities. The SETE will accept, maintain, and process both International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision (ICD-9) and ICD-10 code sets with side-by-side full-scale production testing capabilities. This will help support testing with similar usability and response times as in the production environment. The SETE Web pages are be labeled as "SETE" across the top to ensure that testers can distinguish when they are in the testing environment and when they are in the production Portal environment. Testers should ensure they are in the SETE when testing to avoid disruption of their normal business with ForwardHealth.

The following effective and end dates for ICD-10 codes have been adjusted in SETE to support ICD-10 testing activities:

  • ICD-9 codes are end dated on February 28, 2015.
  • ICD-10 codes are effective on March 1, 2015.

The SETE is unavailable for testing activities on Sunday and Monday each week. Attempts to access and test within the SETE during this timeframe may fail and will not be supported. Please limit testing activities to Tuesday through Saturday.

The SETE will be "refreshed" on September 13, 2015. With each refresh, testing data will be erased from the testing environment; therefore, testers should keep these refresh dates in mind when planning their testing. Refer to the ICD-10 Testing Environment Capabilities and Resources document linked under the Testing Resources section below for more information regarding these refreshes.
